Creative Writer And Children’s Storyteller

⌖ Remote — Nigeria◷ Contract◉ Remote

About the role

We’re building original stories and content that children will want to return to and that parents can feel good about sharing. One of those projects is a children’s cartoon built around adventure, friendship, safety, and rescue.

We’re looking for writers who can turn an idea into memorable characters, engaging episodes, and clear production-ready scripts. You should enjoy collaborating, welcome thoughtful feedback, and care about how a story feels to the child watching it.

This is a fully remote role. If any of our writers prefer to collaborate in person, you may come onsite for up to two days per week; regular onsite attendance is not required.

Your role may begin as a contract. A writer who consistently delivers strong work may be offered a staff position with improved remuneration and benefits.

What you will do

  • Develop original stories, characters, settings and season arcs for children’s cartoons.
  • Write episode outlines, scripts, dialogue and revisions suited to each show’s target age group.
  • Keep characters and story details consistent across episodes while giving each episode a satisfying beginning, challenge, and resolution.
  • Write articles and other creative content for different audiences and platforms.
  • Help shape content strategy: suggest themes, series ideas, formats and publishing plans based on the audience we want to reach.
  • Work with our creative and production teams to make scripts clear enough to guide storyboarding, voice acting, editing and animation.
  • Respond to feedback, meet agreed deadlines, and help improve the work from concept through final draft.

What you will bring

  • Strong storytelling ability, with samples that show you can write engaging scenes and natural dialogue.
  • An understanding of how to write for children in a way that is entertaining, age-appropriate and easy to follow.
  • The ability to move between imaginative storytelling, informative articles and strategic content planning.
  • Good research, editing and organisational skills.
  • The confidence to suggest fresh ideas and the openness to revise them with a team.
  • Reliable communication and the discipline to deliver consistently while working remotely.

Experience writing animation or children’s entertainment is valuable, but a strong portfolio matters more than a particular job title or qualification.

How success is measured

We’ll look at the quality of your stories and scripts, how well they connect with the intended audience, and whether they are practical for the production team to use. We’ll also value consistency: meeting agreed milestones, maintaining continuity across a season, responding well to feedback and contributing ideas that make our content stronger.

For a contract assignment, the deliverables, deadlines, revision rounds and payment milestones will be agreed before work begins. You’ll know what is expected and have a clear opportunity to show what you can do.

Growth and rewards

This role offers the chance to help shape original children’s shows from their early stages and see your writing become finished content. You’ll have room to develop beyond episode scripts into series development, editorial direction and content strategy as our projects grow.

Strong, consistent results can lead to more benefits such as health insurance and a 13th-month salary. Any staff offer and its benefits will be set out clearly at that stage.

If you love creating stories children remember, can deliver work a production team can build on, and want to grow with an ambitious creative team, we’d like to hear from you. Please apply with your CV or brief profile, relevant writing samples, and a short note about your experience or interest in writing for children. We look forward to reading your work and, hopefully, working with you.
